Brian Brody & The Ghost Ensemble
Brian Brody & The Ghost Ensemble are a collaboration between singer-songwriter Brian Brody and composer Simon Quigley. A brooding mix of Brody’s powerful vocals, coloured with lush strings and a unusual mix of other instrumentation.
Their sound is reminiscent of 60′ Scott Walker, Kurt Weil, The Bad Seeds and Portishead. Live they have guest singers, Musici Ireland string quartet and produce a compelling sound that evokes Elvis Costello (Brodsky Quartet) Juliet Letters.
Performances
They performed in Ratfarnham Castle as part of their spring season of performances, that was sponsored by the OPW.
They also launched their current line up that includes Musici Ireland string quartet in the Wexford Arts Centre. Their unique blend of classical and electronica and wonderfully talented singers, produces a beguiling combination that should not be missed.
Album Release
They will be launching a new album of work soon and a new single is slated for an early September release.
Single Release
The song entitled ‘To Die with a Smile’ takes it’s inspiration from the Edith Piaf classical, ‘Non je ne regrette rien” and comes Brian’s love Jacques Brel and others in the chanson genre.
